Working Very Hard on This page
First of all, it's important for me to tell you that I use Chris Kinman and Lindy Fralin pickups on my Stratocaster and Telecaster
guitars. Both these guys have mastered the art of pickup winding and
construction. If you're interested in wasting your time and money, go
ahead and try all the others. You'll end up with a pile of shit in a
draw in your workbench! Trust me on this one, if you have the need for
tone and breath taking sound, then these are the guys! Let me also tell
you that neither manufacturer uses active electronics, eliminating the
need to replace "pain in the ass" batteries.
Chris Kinman
has single handedly mastered noiseless pickup technology, and certainly
without sacrificing tone and musicality! He even put amazing touch
sensitivity in these little babies. Kinman offers several types of Strat and Tele designs. He only makes single coil pickups. I have the pleasure of owning two different sets. The Woodstocks and the AVn Traditionals. My sunburst Strat houses the Woodstocks that emulate the sound of a brand new 1969 Fender Stratocaster,
of course without the noise! These pickups have incredible output with
amazing touch sensitivity. They have the ability to take you over the
top. My cream colored Strat houses the AVn Traditionals which emulate a 1952 aged tone Fender Stratocaster, of course without the noise! These pickups blow me away. They have the tingle of an old Strat
with, once again, amazing tone and unbelievable touch. I can't stress
enough the playability of the pickups. They will breathe life into your
whole gig! I am such a fan of these Kinman's sets, that I would probably have his baby.
Lindy Fralin is another beast but lives in the same jungle. His single coil pickups are not noiseless, but Fralin offers almost every type of pickup design. I have a set of Lindy's blues pickups in my Butterscotch Telecaster. Wow, although the typical single coil noise is there, these babies really sing and give my Tele incredible expressiveness. I've wanted to try Fralins for a while now and believe me, they make the Fender stock pickups
sound like a "joke". He gets rid of that ugly sizzling top end that
makes you want to quit playing the guitar and replaces it with high
fidelity, gorgeous audio. Oh, by the way, if you want to almost
eliminate the noisy single coil nonsense, use a wireless. You'll really
be surprised!
